Bees can pollinate up to 200 million flowers each day, essential for plant reproduction and biodiversity. However, they face threats like Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD), which has caused over 25% of managed honeybee populations to disappear since 1990. This disorder leads to the sudden loss of adult bees, threatening our food supply and potentially driving up prices.
Heifer International and WeHero provide opportunities for employees to build bee habitats and learn about regenerative agriculture. These habitats support Mason Bees, a native species found throughout the United States, representing 41% of the world’s diversity among the 139 mason bee species in North America. Additionally, WeHero donates 3,000 bees per participant to farms in under-resourced countries through Heifer International. Join the Honey Harvest program to support in-person teams building bee hives, while remote and hybrid teams can create bee habitats or bee hives from their own locations.
