What is Little Free Library?
Research consistently shows that putting books into children's hands significantly boosts literacy. The more access a child has to books at home or nearby, the more likely they are to develop a love for reading. Shockingly, two out of three children living in poverty have no books of their own. Children raised in homes without books are, on average, three years behind their peers who have access to reading materials.
In partnership with Little Free Libraries, participants decorate and build mini "story-shed" libraries. These libraries will be donated to organizations in book deserts, helping to promote literacy by providing children and families with easy access to books in underserved communities.
