What is Write Away Loneliness?
Senior isolation significantly increases the risks of functional decline and mental health challenges, including depression. Research shows that loneliness and weak social connections can have health impacts equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day, highlighting the impact of isolation on overall well-being.
Volunteers take time away from their inbox to write heartfelt letters, bringing warmth and connection to isolated seniors. Participants receive everything they need, including stationery, stamps, and keynote to learn the challenges elderly face and the powerful impact of fostering connection.
