What is Little Free Library?
Research consistently shows that putting books into children's hands significantly boosts literacy. The more access a child has to books at home or nearby, the more likely they are to develop a love for reading. Shockingly, two out of three children living in poverty have no books of their own. Children raised in homes without books are, on average, three years behind their peers who have access to reading materials.
In partnership with Little Free Library, participants work in teams to build and decorate Little Free Libraries that will be installed in communities experiencing book deserts. Each library helps expand access to books and advance literacy by giving children and families a free, welcoming place to discover and share stories.
