5 Easy Ways to Help Others During COVID-19

As we face an unpredictable next few months, we believe the best way to respond is by coming together to support those in need. There are a lot of opportunities and a lot of noise.

Here are 5 easy ways for you to get involved to help those directly affected by COVID-19 and those affected by the ripple effects of the virus.

1. The WeHero Browser Extension

Of course we had to put this one first! This extension is an easy (and free) way to raise money for nonprofits supporting COVID-19, Earth Month and more.

2. Letters of Love

The elderly community has been hit especially hard by COVID-19. Even healthy patients are being isolated in their rooms for weeks on end in order to stop the spread of the virus. They need our love and support to fight off loneliness! You can write 1, 5 or even 10 letters and the team at Letters of Love will distribute them to senior centers around the country. All you have to do is write a letter of support to:

Love For The Elderly

P. O. Box 24248

Cleveland, OH 44124USA

3. Mentor and Tutor Low-Income Students

Every student deserves the opportunity to attend college and achieve upward mobility. Schools have closed throughout the country and students in need don’t have access to the academic support they need. You can help by signing up to be a virtual tutor to help with math, general education and college prep. You can help students from anywhere with an internet connection: whether that be from your desk at work or from the comfort of your couch!

4. Be My Eyes - Bring Sight to the Blind

Be My Eyes is a free app that connects blind and low-vision people with sighted volunteers for visual assistance through a live video.

5. Support the Red Cross - Give Blood

Donating blood is essential to community health and the need for blood products is constant. There is no known end date in this fight against coronavirus and the Red Cross needs the help of blood and platelet donors to maintain a sufficient blood supply for weeks to come.Donating blood is allowed under all Shelter in Place ordinances and The Red Cross follows the highest standards of safety and infection control so it’s safer than going to your Supermarket!
