The Gift of Honeybees: A Gift that Keeps on Giving

To say that this year has been challenging, would be an understatement. After a particularly sour couple of months, we wanted to sweeten up this year’s giving season.

Beginning on December 1st, WeHero will be teaming up with Heifer International and joining in their mission to Give the Gift of Honeybees.

Simply put, bees are superstars. They pollinate the food that we eat, provide additional income for off-season farmers, and contribute to healthy and complex ecosystems. Believe it or not, bees play a role in one of every three bites of food that we eat! Bees exemplify WeHero's mission of making a tangible difference in an environmentally-friendly manner.

Much has been in the news about the danger of bees becoming extinct. If this were to happen, the agriculture systems we need to produce food to feed the world would be seriously compromised. Without bees, families would lose necessary income generated through the sales of honey, wax, pollen and crops. Families, farmers, and communities around the globe are dependent on the protection and prevalence of bees. That’s why now, more than ever, Heifer’s mission to Give the Gift of Honeybees is so important.
