In a recent blog, we wrote about the 3 million+ acres this year that have been lost in California alone and how companies can respond during this time.Funding first, corporate volunteering second. To read more about how employees, teams, and companies can respond to fires happening across the west coast, read our latest blog here.
In part 2, we wanted to expand with a little more information and resources that can aid in your corporate social response.
Why is this happening:This is another really good question that we've been hearing from our audience. Thankfully our friends at One Tree Planted have been working with leading experts to produce a documentary called "The State of California" answering that very question. Watch below!
Reforestation - How to make an impact in the long-term:WeHero has been working to enable companies to partake in reforestation efforts at scale. Not only are employees planting thousands of trees, but for every employee that participates WeHero and One Tree Planted are now planting trees in California as part of the CA ecosystem recovery project. The trees that we are sourcing and planting as part of this effort are all native to CA including: Sugar Pine, Redwood, Maple, Elderberry, Willow, Birch, Dogwood, Cedar, Giant Sequoia, and Walnut.
Working in partnership with One Tree Planted, WeHero hosts corporate volunteer programs in support of the post-fire response. Our Reforestation event provides companies, teams, and individuals with the knowledge and supplies necessary to plant trees and rebuild areas that have been impacted by natural disasters, like these wildfires. Our events are packaged and sent to your homes, so despite being physically distant, you and your team members can join together in supporting a cause of such great importance. If your company is interested in taking part in these reforestation efforts, please connect with us here.
The Vote - 2020 is the year to make your voice heard:The 2020 US Senate races will have a significant, long-lasting impact on the strength of our nation’s climate policies and the existence of our wild places. We need to do our best to elect leaders who will fight for the future of our planet and employees and companies can play a major role in accelerating this effort.Patagonia along with an assortment of nonprofit partners has created a tool to create your voting plan and to help companies and individuals educate themselves on the impact their vote can create.
